Why the British media claim Irish stars as their own

Hilarious video looks into why the British media claim Irish stars as British

A hilarious video examines why the British media are always claiming Irish stars as their own.
It can often seem that whenever an Irish person triumphs on the world stage, they will be claimed as British by the UK media.

Sporting champions such as Rory McIlroy and Carl Frampton are always referred to as British rather than Irish – only when their home city is named do we learn that they are from the island of Ireland.

Even stars from south of the border such as Conor McGregor and Saoirse Ronan have been referred to as British.
It can be a source of huge frustration for many Irish people to patriotically cheer on a sports star such as Frampton – only to read a BBC or Sky report on his latest triumph and see him referred to as ‘one of Britain’s top world champions’.
Sure, we can allow ourselves a wry smile that they put an Irish guy at the top of the list – above all the guys from Britain – but for many people the overriding reaction is one of annoyance.
A great video from Sean Burke and the Fratocrats sees an investigative journalist looking into the problem.
He meets some hilarious British journalists who don’t seem to care about giving away the British media’s secrets on the matter. It seems the main reason for the practice is that the Brits love to wind up the Irish.
As the video goes on the conspiracy gets bigger and bigger and eventually is revealed to go all the way to the top.
Take a look at the video below.
