Two Irish locations make list of the top 100 destinations in the world

Trivago have released the 100 locations in the world that have the best reputation among visitors – and the list includes two places in Ireland.

The hotel comparison website analysed reviews of hotels left by visitors to towns and cities across the world (to qualify for the list a town or city needed to have at least 130 hotels).Two Irish locations make list of the top 100 destinations in the world

There was good news for Ireland as one of our favourite holiday spots – Killarney – made it into the top ten of Trivago’s list with an 85.17% positive ranking.

Killarney is one of the most beautiful areas in Ireland and is a big part of the reason that Irish people voted Co Kerry Ireland’s favourite domestic holiday destination.

Killarney is famous for its stunning views of unspoiled natural beauty spots including hills, forests, wildlife and lakes – including the Gap of Dunloe and Ladies View at the Lakes of Killarney. More on the Lakes of Killarney

Killarney town is also a tourist attraction with a friendly atmosphere and plenty to do including sporting activities, visiting independent shops selling handmade Irish products and a variety of Irish pubs many with live music and dancing.

There are also several landmarks in the surrounding area such as Ross Castle, Muckross House, Muckross Abbey, and of course, the Lakes. More on Killarney

Killarney wasn’t the only Irish destination on Trivago’s list. Galway also made an appearance – finishing in a respectable 57th place with an 82.492% positive ranking.

Galway is also a favourite domestic holiday destination for Irish people and is considered Ireland’s most romantic city.

It is a beautiful city, on the west coast of the country that has been a source of inspiration for many great Irish poets and writers such as W B Yeats.

Galway is famous for landmarks and attractions such as Galway Bay, the bustling Eyre Street, Salthill Promenade, the Spanish Arch, Coole Park, the Aran Islands and many more. More on Galway

The Turkish town of Göreme was rated the highest by Trivago. For any Italians reading, get ready to feel pretty smug – here is the top ten;
