Kalie Gill died in a car accident in October. Her sister Lindsey was also injured and is currently recovering at a rehabilitation center.

A Benefit concert is taking place on Friday to help raise money for the Gill family. SJP heard the story on the radio and wondered what she could do to help. She donated some of her designer shoes and handbags that she used in episode of Sex and the City.

The fashionable merchandise, as well as other prize lots including Super Bowl tickets, are expected to raise tens of thousands of dollars to help with Lindsey’s recovery.

‘People are rallying round, it’s great to see’

The Gills had only recently moved to New York after leaving their native Co Leitrim. Parker has a fondness for Ireland and owns a home in Co Donegal with her husband Matthew Broderick.

A mutual acquaintance of the family and SJP, local butcher Oliver Charles, said: “I’m not a bit surprised she is helping out. She’s a really good person who comes in and chats away like anyone else, totally down to earth.

“It really helps with this fundraiser as the Gill family have been devastated and the community needs to show their support. People are really rallying around. It’s great to see.”

The Gill family have suffered a terrible loss, but have no ill feelings towards the driver. Kalie’s Dad Damien said: “We hold no grievance against the driver, and Kalie wouldn’t want that either. We’re sure she’s hurting. It’s just unfortunate that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
