A pair of 95-year-old twins have revealed the secret to living a long and healthy life – no sex and lots of Guinness.
Lilian Cox and Doris Hobday, from Tipton in the West Midlands, are thought to be the oldest living identical twins in the UK.
They were invited to appear on daytime TV show This Morning to explain their secrets to popular hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
The ladies were asked to explain to viewers how they have managed to live such healthy lives and revealed an unusual dietary habit of eating raw sausages.
Hosts Schofield and Willoughby were bemused by the explanation and asked, “don’t you worry you would get food poisoning?”, but that suggestion was scoffed at and laughed off by Lilian and Doris.
The ladies also admitted that they had only packed one pair of underwear for their trip to the television studio but were happy to adopt the age-old tradition of extending the shelf life of their underwear by “wearing them inside out tomorrow.”
The charm and honesty of the twins had both Schofield and Willoughby in stitches.
The pair then revealed what they consider to be the true secret to their long and healthy lives: “No sex and plenty of Guinness!”
Willoughby asked: “Why no sex? A lot of people say that.”
To which the sister quipped: “I haven’t got an husband!”
The interview was a big hit with viewers, and many of the sisters’ comments have been shared across social media.
