Our pets have taken over from our partners and friends as the most popular Netflix bingeing companions.
That is according to a worldwide survey carried out by the content streaming giant.
More than 50,000 Netflix viewers from countries all around the world were quizzed on their binge-watching habits.
The emergence of Netflix over the past few years has seen many people share the binge-watching experience of their favourite shows with their partners or friends.
However, it turns out some of us find that can get a little annoying. You don’t want to miss crucial plot points because your viewing partner is talking, or have to wait to watch the next episode of your favourite show until they are back from work.
Our furry and feathered friends cause none of these problems, and for that reason 58% of people now find their pets the perfect viewing partner.
In fact, more than a third of people (37%) admitted to moving their sitting position to make their pet more comfortable, and 22% have bribed their pet with a treat to keep them watching for longer.
Nearly a quarter of bingers (22%) speak to their pets about the shows they are watching, and 12% will even turn off if they think their pets are not enjoying it.
Netflix revealed that the most popular shows for cats, or should that be cat owners, are sci-fi series like Black Mirror and Star Trek Discovery.
Dog lovers and their dogs prefer action-packed shows such as Narcos and Marvel’s Daredevil.
Birds and their owners are more likely to settle down for a few episodes of Orange is the New Black and other comedy-dramas.
And the survey found that the show that is popular with all animals and their owners is Stranger Things.
