Movie trailer shows Johnny Depp as Irish American gangster
A trailer for the movie Black Mass starring Johnny Depp as the notorious Irish American gangster Whitey Bulger has been released.
The Hollywood star is almost unrecognisable in the role, which sees him return to gritty dramas such as Donnie Brascoe and Public Enemies.
The movie is based on the Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill novel Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob.
It tells the story of Whitey Bulger who was one of the most notorious gangsters in the history of South Boston.
He was involved in several violent crimes, which eventually caught up with him and he became an FBI informer.
The movie looks like it is set to be a hit. It is directed by Scott Cooper and Depp heads an all-star cast along with Kevin Bacon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Sienna Miller and Dakota Johnson.
The movie is due for release in September.
