A student from Co Kerry has come face to face with her doppelgänger after meeting her online and says that even her father cannot tell them apart.

Shannon Lonergan was contacted by Swedish teenager Sara Nordstrom after signing up to the website twinstrangers.com.

A video, by the Twin Strangers YouTube channel, follows the journey of 17-year-old Sara, who found Shannon on the website within just a few searches.

Sara said: “My friends actually thought that the picture of Shannon was me.”

Sara contacted Shannon and they arranged to meet in Dublin.

The video then picks up 21-year-old Shannon’s side of the story. It seems that she had been a member of the site a bit longer than Sara but had not had any luck with her search.

She said: “I had completely forgot about it and I got an email a few weeks ago.”

Both girls seemed nervous to meet each other but they needn’t have worried. After they got over the initial shock they went Dublin’s Christmas market and looked to have had a lot of fun.

Shannon said that when her father joined them he didn’t know which girl was his daughter.

She said: “His facial expressions were hilarious and showed how shocked he was. He honestly needed a moment to see who was who.”
