Irish living abroad urged to cast a symbolic vote

Leading Irish singer Christy Moore is more at home in the concert hall than the debating chamber but he’s obviously a democrat at heart.

He’s alerted his fans to a website giving Irish people living abroad a chance to have a say in the coming General Election.

Under Irish law, citizens living abroad are not allowed to vote. That’s why the website https://ballotbox.ie/ has been set up.

It allows people to cast symbolic vote. It won’t count in the election but it’s a chance to make a statement about where you stand on the choices facing Ireland at the moment.
