Irish comedians join forces in charity gig

Ireland’s top comedians are joining forces to put on a mega show to raise money for a local children’s hospital.
The ‘Laugh Out Loud’ gig will feature stars such as David O’Doherty, PJ Gallagher and Kevin McGahern as well as several more Irish funnymen and women.
The aim is to raise money for the Renal and Neurology Outpatients Unit at Temple Street hospital, which treats thousands of children each year.

The Laugh Out Loud gig will take place on 13th June at Vicar Street theatre in Dublin.
Many of the comedians that will perform took time out to visit the hospital and chat with some of the patients. The Irish Independent was also present and created a video to promote Laugh Out Loud.
Speaking about the visit, Kevin McGahern said: “It has been a lovely mix of emotions, its great seeing the kids, we had great craic talking to them, and it’s been class. Then you’re reminded of the money that needs to be raised so it’s a weird mix of emotions but I hope we can raise that money. Get that cash in! ”
PJ Gallagher explained: “Why should people come along? You should definitely come along on the 13th to Vicar Street because we’re going to guarantee you a laugh anyway because if you don’t like one of us then well be gone in seven minutes and there’ll be another one on! But it’s a really strong line-up, it’s a really strong bill”
Al Porter also added: “Every comedian in the country is coming together for that one night, it’s only €21!”

Denise Fitzgerald, Temple Street’s Charity CEO, told the Irish Independent: “This event has raised over €115,000 for sick kids since it started and is a night not to be missed! I would like to thank all the comedians who have supported us over the years and a special thanks to the Lisa Richard’s Agency for their continued support – you have helped us to make a real difference to our patient’s lives.”
