Despite being McDonagh’s first movie, In Bruges was a big success and has developed a cult following.

Fans will be keen to see the next collaboration between McDonagh and Farrell and Gleeson.

The film will be called The Banshees of Inisheer and is set on a remote Irish island.

It tells the story of two lifelong friends who fall out and go their separate ways, which causes unexpected repercussions for both and everyone else involved.

If the chemistry on-screen gets close to that achieved during the twisted In Bruges then they should be onto a winner.

McDonagh made his name in the theatre before turning his attention to the silver screen.

Since In Bruges he has achieved great success with other projects, most notably the 2017 drama Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri which won three Academy Awards.
