The Irish Independent visited a farming event recently and quizzed the farmers about what they thought was the ‘worst accent in Ireland’.
The comical tone of the video was set straight away as the first farmer named Donegal as the worst accent in the country, only for the interviewer to laugh and tell him that she is from Donegal.
There were few counties that got away with it, as most were named by someone as the worst accent.
People from Longford were told their accent is ‘flat’, the Cavan accent was described as ‘awful’, while Louth people were told their accent is “just droll”.
Waterford was named as the worst by one woman, and when she was asked why she looked at her son and said: “Timmy’s not a fan of Austin Gleeson.”
Dubliners were criticised for shortening their words too much, while people from Kerry and Wexford were told that “you can’t understand them at all”.
