Fans have spent the last few years laughing at the Derry Girls and their antics onscreen and now we can see them even more as Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell have joined Celebrity Gogglebox.
The pair who play Erin and Michelle respectively in the popular series have signed up for the latest series of Gogglebox, which sees viewers react to major television shows of the week.
The Channel 4 show has been a big hit with viewers since it first arrived on our screens back in 2013.
The producers have experimented in recent series by using celebrities as their subjects and seeing their reactions as they watch television.
The Derry Girls stars are delighted to have been invited to join Gogglebox for the latest series.
They joked about them both having a double barrelled first name with Jamie-Lee saying: “My name is a bit hillbilly – Jamie-Lee. I mean in certain parts of the world I think it would be.”
However, Saoirse-Monica insisted she would never change her name and laughed that when people don’t understand she just says it louder until they do.
The pair watched popular reality show Don’t Tell the Bride, got cooking tips from fashion expert Gok Wan and were thrilled by horror movie The Woman in the Window.
Viewers were suitably entertained by the pair and they got plenty of positive reviews and comments on social media.
They also watched First Dates which prompted Jamie-Lee to tell a story about a disastrous first date she once went on that didn’t work out because “he really didn’t like Irish people”.
The talented pair made great viewing and are both delighted to be part of such a popular show.
Saoirse-Monica said: “Gogglebox is one of my absolute favourites so to be on there with my pal and fellow Derry Girl Jamie-Lee is a bit of a thrill.”
