As Irish boxer is cheated out of the Olympics, the Irish hit back with humour

You can’t beat the Irish, as they say. So even as Belfast boxer Michael Conlan was erupting in fury and four letter words about being cheated out of an Olympic medal by some dodgy judges, Irish comedy team Foil, Arms & Hog were fighting back with some telling punches of their own.

The Conlan controversy was based on the fact that whole world thought he beat his Russian opponent Vladimir Nikitin except for the people who matter… the judges. They astonished everyone by announcing that the Nikitin was the winner even though he’d done nothing but act as Conlan’s punch back for the whole fight.
Conlan claimed the whole world of Olympic amateur boxing was fixed and even tweeted Russian president Vladimir Putin to ask how much it had cost to fix the fight.
Well, while the rest of Ireland fumed, Foil, Arms & Hog couldn’t help but find a funny side.

Here was Michael Conran’s reaction after he was controversially eliminated.
