Irish chef Darina Allen is a household name across the country after spending years on our screens demonstrating how to cook some of the most delicious traditional meals.
A video of Allen explaining how to prepare a leg of lamb has emerged online from when she appeared on British cooking channel UKTV Food.
In the video, Allen explains and demonstrates how best to cut the joint of meat before it is cooked.
It includes a detailed explanation of how to cut out some of the bone before cooking, so that carving at the dinner table is much easier, which is especially useful if you have guests.
Allen also has little tips and techniques to share with the viewers about taste and presentation.
Once she has finished cutting the awkward bone from the meat, and scored the fat, Allen suggests you could tuft the holes with garlic or rosemary, or if you prefer rub some salt into the skin.
Allen demonstrates how to prepare the leg of lamb in just a few minutes, but as she says, it is far better to get a few simple tasks completed before the meat is cooked.
