Body found after pensioner swept away in floods

The body of a pensioner swept away in flood water has been found in Co Monaghan.
Police recovered the body of Ivan Vaughan, 70, around 10 metres from his car in Corraghdown, near the village of Glaslough.
It is believed the veteran musician was returning to his home in Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland, on Sunday night when he encountered heavy flooding caused by Storm Desmond on a minor road.

A major search operation to find the missing man was mounted on Monday morning.
The pensioner’s body was found at around 11.30am.
A Garda spokesman said: “It is believed the car the man was driving entered the flood water and he got out of the car and was swept away by the force of the flood.”
Mr Vaughan was pronounced dead at the scene.
