One of Ireland’s most historic and luxurious castles is up for sale after the owners decided to pass it on to a new generation.
Markree Castle in County Sligo was built during the 18th century. It stands three storeys high and in addition to its glamorous living quarters, it also boasts a whopping 30 en-suite guest rooms and comfortable living spaces for staff.
Throughout the home there are stylish pieces of art and furniture, with a balance between tradition and luxury.
The castle is situated at the centre of 300 acres of gardens and woodlands, which contain a fishing pond, a Victorian rockery, meadows for grazing sheep as well as numerous lawns and walkways.
This fairytale home is now on the market after the Cooper family, who have owned the property for more than 350 years, have decided to sell.
The asking price is only available upon application, but experts estimate that the stunning property is worth somewhere around €3m.
Markree Castle has been used as a luxurious guest house for many years, and is also a popular wedding venue for both the ceremony in its chapel, and the reception.
