Included in the official gift list of the Princess was a handwoven rattle made by Irish craftsman Ciarán Hogan.
Hogan is an expert in weaving willow and typically makes baskets. His shop in Connemara was one of the places visited by Prince Charles and Camilla on their trip to Ireland in 2015. The trip was just a few weeks after the birth of Princess Charlotte.
Hogan met Prince Charles and gave him the specially made willow rattle as a gift to pass on to baby Charlotte.
Not wanting to spoil his granddaughter Charles waited until her first birthday to pass it on.
It was one of many luxury presents sent to the young princess.
Others included a pink dress embroidered with “From Israel With Love” from President Reuven Rivlin of Israel, a jigsaw, cuddly toy “Bo” dog, rocking chair, baby blanket from President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, and a book of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales from British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The baby princess also received a Bhutanese coat from the King and Queen of Bhutan, a silver rattle from the President of Mexico and an incredible white gold rattle with diamonds, rubies and sapphires from the Natural Sapphire Company.
Princess Charlotte’s auntie, Pippa Middleton, chose a more practical present of a set of biodegradable nappies.
