An advert for a new drink by the legendary Irish brewery Guinness, focuses on the impact of Irish immigrants in America.

Despite attempts to keep the Irish down, they became the men and women who helped to make America great. They were the builders, policemen, fire fighters and even a President.

The advert shows emigrants on a boat heading to the States with the Statue of Liberty welcoming them in the background.

It says: “One of the first things we brought to America was our beer.”

With so many people of Irish descent in America, Guinness decided to make an Irish-American beer.

The drink is the Guinness Blonde American lager and has the tag line ‘Irish born, American brewed’.

The Guinness YouTube channel wrote: “When we Irish started coming to America, it wasn’t easy, but we kept at it and became a part of the fabric of this country – same with our beer. Today, there are nearly 6.5 million Irish in Ireland and over 30 million in the U.S.

“So we thought it was about time to brew an Irish American beer. Our Brewers Project at St. James’s Gate in Dublin came up with the recipe. We work with our friends in LaTrobe, Pennsylvania to brew it in the USA. We call it Guinness Blonde American Lager. Irish-born, American-brewed.”
