Stunning singing voice from autistic Irish girl

An Irish girl has become a star after she beautifully sang Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah on US primetime show Little Big Shots.

Kaylee Rodgers is just 11 years old and has autism and ADHD. Her stunning voice was spotted by TV producers after a video of her singing in a school recital was posted online.

Kaylee, from Donaghadee, Co Down, was invited to America to perform on the show, and was accompanied onstage by the professional vocal group Pentatonix.

Despite facing the daunting prospect of performing in front of the live studio audience, and the millions watching worldwide, Kaylee delivered a confident and assured rendition of the popular song that belied her young age.

The confidence Kaylee gained from singing was key to her development according to her school principal Colin Millar.

He said: “For a child who came in and wouldn’t really read out in class, to stand and perform in front of an audience is amazing.”

Kaylee’s Little Big Shots performance has proved to be extremely popular online.

The Facebook video has been viewed more than 11 million times.
