Prodijig - Video of Irish dance stars performing to classical music goes viral

Who says that Irish dancing needs to be performed to Irish music?

It certainly isn’t a rule that Irish dance stars Prodijig feel they need to follow. They have released a video of a recent performance in which they showcased their Irish dancing skills to classical music.

The group, led by choreographer and lead dancer Alan Kenefick danced to the Vivaldi piece ‘Winter’ from ‘The Four Seasons’.

The video was taken from a performance at the Cork Opera House which went down a storm with the audience.

The clip was posted to Prodijig’s Facebook page and has gone viral. It has been seen tens of thousands of times and the viewers like what they see.

Emma Taylor said: “You guys are amazing, such brilliant choreography.”

Regina Long added: “Such an amazing piece of dancing! Lads ye are setting the bar so high, that’s fab piece of Irish dancing to Vivaldi!”

Other commenters included Justin Jaylowe Lowe who said: “Absolutely superb combination of dance and orchestra.”

Also Jo Allen who wrote: “Inspirational. Love the music and even more now with that dance.”

Prodijig have been on a roller coaster ride since 2012. They appeared on a British talent TV series called ‘Got to Dance’.

After winning the competition they toured Ireland and rthe UK with their Irish danceshow ‘Footstorm’.

Their upward trajectory continues as they are now performing with the RTE Concert Orchestra and have set up a summer boot camp to help them as they search for new talent.
