Derry footballer Ciara McGurk was given the surprise of her life when she turned around after giving a post-match interview and saw her boyfriend down on one knee on the side of the pitch.
The stunned player had just finished speaking to the reporter about her side’s 1-1 draw with Fermanagh when she spun around and saw her boyfriend Ryan ready to propose to her.
The magical moment was captured on film. Fair play to Ryan McCloskey, McGurk’s now fiancé.
He bravely popped the question in front of thousands of fans, and with the media there ready to broadcast to the entire country.
Thankfully, Ciara said ‘Yes’ and the lovebirds shared an emotional embrace to the delight of the cheering crowd.
The video has been posted online and the happy couple have received numerous messages of congratulations from well-wishers.
It was a special day for McGurk. She fulfilled her lifetime ambition of playing at the iconic Croke Park stadium for her Oak Leaf County side.
She then went on to score a first half goal to put her team ahead, before it was cancelled out by a late Fermanagh penalty.
Following the game, McGurk was taking part in a routine interview about the match, before she turned round to see that the excitement was far from over, as her loving boyfriend had a question of his own for her.
