Des Bishop is an Irish American comedian who has become a favourite thanks to his several routines on the quirks of Irish people.
Bishop was born in London but moved to New York as a child and grew up there. When he was 16 he moved to Ireland and completed his studies in Wexford and later in Dublin.
He became a regular performer and host at the International Comedy Cellar in the late 1990s and has since performed several sell out shows and made numerous television appearances.
Much of Bishop’s material is based on Irish people, and the strange habits and rituals he encountered when he moved here.
In 2004, Bishop filmed a documentary in which he travelled across the country working a series of jobs on minimum wage to see first-hand how difficult it can be for people to get by on low income.
Take a look at some of his funniest routines below.
