Mark Mooney, of Co Tyrone, spent just three months on his ‘baravan’ after having the idea when he and his friends enjoyed a barrel of beer in his mobile home.

Now, he has a fantastic traditional Irish pub on wheels that can seat 15 people and cater for as many as 150.

Mark told Belfast Live: “We have a mobile home in Mullaghmore in Co Sligo and myself and friends we went down one weekend and brought a keg of beer.

There was a squad of us down and we had a bit of a party and it just came to me. It is a cool wee thing, we are very happy with it.”

The baravan started out as a labour of love for Mark, but has proven so popular he has now made it available for hire for weddings, parties and other events.

“We have been working on it since the start of July and we have just got it finished and we are having the first night in it this Saturday.

“The bookings have already been coming in thick and fast, we have a wedding party next week and then a full wedding.

Mark has named his creation The Dungloe Baravan after the Donegal town.

A look inside explains the high demand as The Dungloe is fitted with traditional benches, bar tables and beamed ceiling.

The outside has been painted to look like old white brickwork, with a red stable doors.

He said: “It can seat 15 inside but the windows fold down to bars and with that we have the capacity to serve up to 150 people.

“It is a full working bar inside and as long as we have room outside we can serve as many as we want.

“With a bit of music, it has a deadly atmosphere.”

Mark is not the first person to create his own replica Irish pub.

All around the world people have a fondness for the traditional Irish pub, and many have attempted to re-create that atmosphere.
