Irish children tell the story of Easter

A group of Irish children tell the story of Easter and the death of Jesus in a delightfully cute YouTube video.
The recordings were actually taken up to 50 years ago, when a series was produced of Irish schoolchildren narrating stories from the bible.

The fantastic soundtracks have now been brought back to life with some brilliant animations and published on YouTube by Monster Distributes.
This video sees several young boys and girls take it in turns to tell the story of Jesus’ death.
The recordings were taken in the 1960s by Brown Bags Films as they went into inner city Dublin schools to hear the children tell their own versions of the stories.
Most of the stars of these films will now be in their fifties and sixties and may well still be telling these bible stories but to their own grandchildren now instead.
The great recordings are truly brought to life by the creative and cute animations of the children, and the characters in the story.
Give Up Yer Aul Sins has won awards and been screened and numerous film festivals.
Throughout the narration, the children add their own unique blend of joy and innocence to the often chilling detail.
The story ends with one child describing a robber being crucified next to Jesus and asking him to remember him in heaven, to which Jesus responds: “This very day you’ll be in heaven with me.”
The video is then brought to a close as one of the ‘men from the television’ says that they have got no more time for the day, before being thanked for all their hard work by the children.
